Programmes
Registered Midwifery Diploma
The registered Midwifery curriculum is based on the semester and course Unit System. The Curriculum is competency-based; and takes into consideration the current needs of society and those of the student Midwife. In this regard, greater emphasis is laid on the community, physical and social sciences as well as spiritual and ethical elements in midwifery practice.
The clinical practice is student-centered which allows for close correlation between theory and practice. Even though supervision and safety of practice in the clinical area is a joint responsibility of the nurse educators and clinicians. Preceptorship will be arranged so that the preceptor assumes supervisory responsibility in conjunction with assigned tutors and clinicians. This will be augmented with the student’s clinical schedule book for competency building.
